Although the recent week-long heat wave that caused San Francisco Bay Area residents like myself literally and figuratively “sweating it” has ended, there’s still plenty of time for a blistering temperature encore this summer.

To escape from the heat, Michael Krasny, host of KQED Radio’s popular weekday morning show, “Forum,” asked these three guests to give their recommendations for camping and hiking “Warm Weather Getaways” in variations California locations:

  • Brad Day, publisher of, a free weekly e-mail about accessible outdoor adventures in the Bay Area
  • Peter Fish, editor-at-large for Sunset Magazine
  • Rachel Levin, freelance travel writer who has written for the New York Times, Slate, San Francisco Magazine, Food and Wine and Outside
