I’m a lousy shopper.

I don’t troll the malls at home. And I rarely buy souvenirs, except ones I can wear (Hawaiian shirts in Hawaii, T-shirts everywhere) when I travel.

But that doesn’t mean that I don’t look at souvenirs when I’m on the road.

I just look at them through my camera’s lens instead of a buyer’s eyes.

Here are three “souvenir” shots taken in Dresden, Germany during my 2009 visit to that city.

Altmarkt Vendor IMG_1917Dresden’s Sunday street fair at the Altmarkt features carnival rides, beer and food vendors, entertainment and, of course, artsy-craftsy stuff to buy.

I took a good long look at what was on offer at one of the stalls,Meissen Cup Painter IMG_1954 but by choice, came away empty-handed.

I watched this artisan skillfully paint decorative ware in the Meissen Outlet store in a downtown shopping galleria, but decided that it wasn’t my cup of tea, and left my wallet full of Euros safely tucked away from temptation in my pocket.

On the other hand, who could resist these nifty little Christmas ornaments sold at the “Stracoland” shop? Me, but not my wife.
